AJ 12

This week i have been very busy in all aspects of creating, Ive made cards, made a scrapbook page and completed some AJ pages Here is #12
The brief was a paper only background, stickers, rub ons, embellishments, doodling NO PAINT!!! That frustrated me immensely and I procrastinated and thought about this page for more than a week and before I had started AJ13 prompts were up. I bite the bullet and started. My doodling was created out of sheer frustration, I was wild with the page and took my anger out with my vivid! On the Just Journal facebook page the other participants liked my doodling. JAI Sketch Challenge #110-Scrapbook Page

The sketch challenge at JAI this week screamed scrapbook page to me! I made a card using it yesterday and today 3 boxes of "heaven" arrived with my friendly courier. Once I had collected my eldest daughter from school I checked off the contents assembled toys tools and got to work. The sketch:
My first scrapbook page for 2012:
I received the Big Shot, Tasteful Trim die, Timeless Type Junior Alphabet die and Fresh Vintage Stamp set today. I own lots of retired DSP but only have one packet of 12x12 in Crumb Cake so I stamped the Fresh Vintage in Crumb Cake randomly to create a background. I also received another die that is a sneak peek. Here is a close-up:
The colours I have used are: Tempting Turquoise, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo taken straight from the colour coach. I am off to cook dinner for my hubby, it will be late because I just had to make this page. Thanks for stopping by. Amanda

JAI 110-Sketch Challenge

This week JAI has a sketch challenge.

I have a dozen baby cards to make over the year. Those that have found out what 'flavour' their baby is going to be are so far all boys.

I needed a boy card for a friend who had her baby yesterday and decided to use the JAI sketch to help get the creativity going.
Here is the sketch:

and here is my card:

I have used Night of Navy, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Fox and Friends is the stamp set. I have popped the squares up with dimensionals.

Try Stampin on Tuesday #58

My fabulous friend who introduced me to Stampin Up had her second daughter this week and I hadn't made her a card. The sketch at Try Stampin on Tuesday appealed to me.
I consulted the color coach as I knew I wanted to make Calypso Coral my main colour, teamed with Baja Breeze and Daffodil Delight here is my card:

87 years young

Today is my Grandads 87th birthday.
I find male cards extremely hard to make
However the colour combo of early espresso, pool party, island indigo and whisper white teamed with the retired stampset A Sense of Time and emboss resist technique I came up with this

AJ 11

I am behind in my art journalling as I have been working on cards for my friends and family who are celebrating birthdays this month.
Now that I am caught up with my cards I can get back to my art journalling
The prompt was RIGHT NOW

As you can see it is a paint free page. Scraps of paper, ink and my trusty vivid were used to create this page

Simply Stampin Colour Challenge

This week whilst blurfing for Challenge sites to help get my card making MOJO re-engaged I came across this colour challenge at Simply Stampin

I love Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla but haven't ever made a card with Poppy Parade since it was released in 2010. Here is my card:

I have used Bold Blossom and the Blossom Bouquet punch for my main image, added some bling to the centre of the flowers. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments
I havent stuck the decorated inside into my card yet as I am waiting for the glue to dry but wanted to get this posted before the linky closes.

Late JAI 108

Last week at JAI it was a colour challenge.

I ran out of time during the week to participate before the linky closed. I still wanted to try the colour challenge so I made the following card for my eldest daughters friend who is turning 5 next weekend
I put dazzling diamonds on the wings, tail and mane

My cat Nova decided he wanted to check out the card I was photographing

I decorated the inside too.

Waterfall Birthday Card

Two years ago, waterfall cards were my favourite kind of card to make. I showed a few friends how to make them and had a few floating around the house looking for a permanent home.
At the beginning of the month I decided that I needed to stop procrastinating and start making the cards for the birthdays, anniversaries, babies and weddings.
Whilst trying to sort through the boxes to look for supplies and get some sort of order to make the cardmaking process easier I found this waterfall card I had made:

My friend from high school is celebrating her birthday today and this is the card I sent her.

Wedding Anniversary cards

Three years ago today I was my little sisters bridesmaid, Matron of Honour. It was a beautiful day. My good friend also got married on the same day and her wedding was in the town we currently live and my sisters was on the other side of the mountain an hour away so unfortunately I wasn't able to attend.
I made them both cards to acknowledge their 3 year wedding anniversary.
The colours are Real Red, Black, Very Vanilla

Cookies

Something creative but in the kitchen.
I normally make the kids brownie for their lunchboxes because its easy to make, requires just one pot to mix it all in, no fancy ingredients and doesnt take a lot of time.
Yesterday was a statutory holiday in Taranaki and I had time so I used a recipe i found in Lucky Break to make Double Chocolate Cookies.
The recipe required 250g of chocolate chips but I felt that was too many so only put in half.

A commissioned birthday card

Whilst making my birthday cards for the month of March the other day I looked after my friends two daughters for the afternoon after they had finished school and kindy for the day. When she came to collect her girls she saw the cards I had been making and asked me to make one for her Mum's birthday next week.
Her eldest daughter chose Pacific Point. It is very similar to the one I made for my friend but I prefer this one.

More Art Pages

I made quite a few pages of art whilst Just Journals computer was having a hissy, over the last few days I added some journalling to the following pages. I am posting them in their art form only as the journalling is for my eyes only this time.

I also made some art journal pages that I will share with you, I am still learning and experimenting with this art form

Art Journal Page 10

The more pages I complete with Just journal on facebook the more confidence I gain and the more techniques I use.
Here is page ten
I don't like it but i am not 100% sure what it is that I dont like, the page is really busy, the colours are quite bold but I can't put my finger on exactly what it is that bugs me.

Wedding Cards

This Saturday two of my friends are getting married at the same time. I am unable to attend as I am working Saturday starting not long after the ceremonies begin and unfortunately the venues are an hours drive from my house.
I have made cards for them both that I will post tomorrow and hopefully they will arrive in time for the big day.
The first is for my friend from high school:

The second card is for my friend who I met at my first job when I finished school working in her Dads pizza shop, best pizzas ever! She helped me organise my wedding, did my hair and makeup and was our photographer 11 years ago when I got married. She likes the colour orange so I snuck a little onto her card.

I case'd the stampin up ideas book for the designs
