The Stamp-A-Holics Challenge #141

I love to blog surf and make cards and participate in challenges when i can.
This week over at SAH it is a colour challenge, check them out here.

I thought this weeks colour combo was gorgeous but when it was posted I hadn't received my order of new product.  The new SU catty went live in NZ on 1st September however due to budget restrictions I was only able to place an order last week for new colours, card, dsp.  The budget didnt stretch to pretty embellishments so my card is very plain.  Lucky for me my order arrived yesterday and I was able to get this made before the deadline!

The colour challenge

My creation

I love to colour and when I saw the Level 1 set Birthday Bakery I knew that would be the first one I would get.  I coloured the cakes using my blender pen and Poppy Parade and Early Espresso ink pads on very vanilla(my favourite), matted on Early Espresso DSP from the Neutrals Paper Stack mounted on Poppy Parade.
In my haste to ensure I met the 15 minute time limit I forgot that when I was planning this card in my head last night when I was supposed to be sleeping that I wanted to corner round all the layers with my punch, I remembered once everything was stuck fast!!!!

I think i am in love......

With retired Stamp sets, Bloomin with Beauty was one of those stamp sets that never said BUY ME, however near the end of the catty it came on special and I looked at it again and decided I love a bargain, turns out I love the stamp set as today I have completed another card which also features my favourite retired DSP also.
This card is for DD's kindy teacher who is celebrating a birthday on Saturday

Welcome Niece!!!!

This year I became an aunt for the first time, my sister gave me a nephew in May and now my brother has given me a niece.  I have 2 girls so my sister has no nephews but their is still a possibility that my brother and his wife will have more children one day once they get used to their new daughter.

They had been trying for a while and now they have their precious daughter I had to ink up a retired set for the sentiment as I feel it says what they are feeling right now.

I have yet to met her as she is in neo-natal and my darlings daughters have been sick so hopefully she will go home this weekend and my kids will be better and i can visit!

Thanks for visiting.
Because the sentiment is in white it maybe hard to see but it says
Fairy tales do come true....

I have been meaning to make an engagement card for a few weeks now and just hadnt got around to it but last night I got to sit down and play with some new supplies that are retiring in 2 days not that retirement bothers me as I like the sets so i brought them and will use them for many years to come and they will probably feature on here from time to time.

So here is my card with some ribbon on it.

More retiring sets used

I am making the most of August and the sets that will be retiring on 31st of August to make way for some new fun sets!  I didnt pre-order any new stamps as what they had available wasnt a set on my ABSOLUTELY must have list so decided to wait and get them October/November even though the new catty goes LIVE 1st September.

Todays card is for a four year old boy, DD is attending his birthday party today and I made the card Friday afternoon when I had a few spare minutes.

Outlined for Fun and Bitty Birthday are the two stamp sets I have used!  If you haven't noticed I like to colour in my stamped images and this card is no exception.  I dont purchase many solid stamp images as I am not a fan of precision cutting to 3d pop them.
The blues are from the regal collection, I cant remeber which they are sorry, brain is in hibernation Sunday! LOL

So far I have completed:

JAI #27

Over at Just Add Ink this week they have a sketch challenge.  I kind of played along last week but this week is the first time that I have played properly (well kind of).  Above is this weeks sketch.

I made a scrapbook page based on the sketch above using Tempting Turquoise and Summer Sun.  As well as some embossing.
Here it is my scrapbook page showing how DDs 4th birthday cake came together.
THe page was very quick and easy to make, which is very necessary in this house if i ever want to get anything finished!

Clean and Simple Challenge

Another challenge was laid down yesterday for the next fortnight and for the first time ever I have completed the challenge before the last day, within the first 24 hours actually.

Clean and simple with no layers was the challenge and I decided what i was going to do whilst being terrorised, tortured kept awake from 2230-0100 by youngest DD! KIDS!!!!! today COFFEE is my best friend, sidetracking anyhow Once Upon a TIme when i first begun making cards they were all 2D, I only embraced LAYERS once I became a Stampin Up Demo and even then at the beginning I felt LAYERS were a waste of hard earned money HOWEVER I have learnt that LAYERS make cards so much more beautiful and I now have LAYERS except today.

My interpretation

and a close up, I have clear embossed over my watercoloured images with the Very Vintage wheel

Thanks for visiting, have a great day!

A challenge

Its been a challenge for me to create anything lately due to lots of reasons but i was given a challenge two weeks ago today to create something using a stamp set that hadnt seen ink.  For me i used two stamp sets which were MUST HAVEs that I was lucky enought to earn through Stampin Start for FREE!!!!!

Who doesnt like FREE, well I really can't of as even though I thought I LOVED them and would USE them all the time they have sat uninked for FOUR months!!!!!!!!  Today was their lucky day and they got to taste ink and create the following:
It doesnt have WOW or anything special BUT its a card and it fits the criteria and at least I can say I made a card finally!!
Taken with Teal, So Saffron cardstocks, Taken with teal ink, Washington Apple DSP, Defining Alphabet and Lifes Definitions

The Land of Blog

I am not particularily good at keeping my blog up to date but that is life I suppose.  Even though I havent been sharing here I have been stamping lots!  My eldest daughters kindy is having an art auction and I decided that Cards are art and have been furiously creating as I set myself a target of 100 cards and i have just 4 to create from scratch to get finished, although i have a few 'in progress' on my table.
So i thought i would share a photo of a set of 5 I have made

I am glad that we get to keep tangerine tango when the colour renovation is rolled out as I love it and I love that it goes with Rich Razzleberry which we are also keeping!!!
Stamp sets used are:Vintage Vogue, Cottage Garden and All A Flutter

Card One-Dazzling Pony

On Saturday night I have got a workshop and have just finished prepping my samples and cardstock, I'm not particularily motivated as I have a sore throat and am also trying to make about 100 cards for the local kindy to auction at their art auction on the 11th of June.

Attendees have the choice of real red or razzleberry.   I have used Pony Party which I got in clear mount.

SSSSS No. 7

Just lately I have been very slack with blogging and participating in the online classes and challenges at the lovely Swap Sisters, however this week when Sue posted the Sketch Challenge I knew I wanted to make a page and it had to be grey and so saffron, only problem was that the 12x12 grey was in transit, now that it has arrived i am finally home and had an hour to very loosely follow the sketch and here is my version

Now that i have started again I hope that my mojo will continue however life has the habit of eating into my creative time!

I MADE A CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WAHOO I made a card!!!!!!!!!!!!  Very exciting as I seemed to have lost my MOJO I think it ran away somewhere and hitch hiked a ride back with the box of SU loveliness that arrived at mine this arvo!!

On the lovely SS Melissa set a challenge a week or two back to use Dazzling Diamonds and Heat and Stick Powder.  I didnt own either so when i placed my order last week I made sure to include them so i could try the technique.

Below is the card I made, Im not really happy with it but any card is better than no card and it also gave me the opportunity to get my new Clear Mount stamps out and inky!

A different kind of baby card

Yesterday morning my first nephew was born at 0158 and i got to witness the joy of birth! My lil sis and her hubby had a wee boy they named Slade.

Then yesterday afternoon I had a card class which is really interesting to run after 3 hours sleep!! I had joy fold cards and springfold cards for them to make.

Both cards were using the fox and friends set and the joyfold was in kraft and chocolate chip.  i made my card to welcome Slade and will give it to my sis when we visit them this afternoon for my first proper cuddle, then i need more sleep and to get cracking on some cards for the kindy art auction and also design some more card class cards.  Gosh my brain hurts thinking about it.
i apologise for the photo being sideways but thats how blogger uploaded it, it is the right way round on my desktop.

Acetate Cards

I like to show people how to make acetate cards as I find them to be a really easy card that has a huge WOW factor to it and today I was tidying up after making this card with a group of ladies and decided I should actually finish it as opposed to putting it in the pile of half started cards and this is what i came up with

This time it was a colour challenge, how bright and lovely is that??

2,5,7 10 box

Shelley and Megan challenged me to go out of my comfort zone and make a 3D item, namely the 2,5,7, 10 box and today when hubby got home from work i set about creating it!

Here is my wonky 2,5,7,10 box, don't look too closely and i wont show you the bottom or sides!! Lets just say that I really need to work on following instructions!  This is the 2nd ever box i have tried and the 1st box that wont have the items put in it fall out on the floor!

Thanks for looking!! Amanda

Safe is Nice

When it comes to cardmaking, once i master a technique or card design if i find it easy then its all I do!
Love you EASEL CARDS!!, however my friends Shelley and Megan keep telling me that i must try new things especially 3D(shudders)

I dont do 3D because
1.  Straight and I are not friends!
2.  I dont have a nice scoring system, Megan told me i can use a ruler and bread knife but I think I will pass
3.  My fingers are really fat which gets in the way of fiddly/tricky things

They have challenged me to create a 2,5,7, 10 box and they kindly gave me a month to complete the task, so watch this space as sometime in the next 30 days a wonky box will be making its internet debut!!

I also made my first Joy-fold card the other day for a workshop i have in a few weeks, i think it turned out well but only time will tell if it becomes my new favourite!

Artist Trading Cards

Artist Trading Cards are beautiful mini artworks with wonderful layers and colours and just so pretty!
On SS they have ATC Wednesday and I have been trying my hand at them.
This weeks attempt-Easter theme

I am thinking that I really should be an admirer and give up on the creation part, although i have been told my creations are lovely against those that make them they look a little underdone!!!

This is one of the two i made last Wednesday-trees/foliage theme, their are gremlins at work that are uploading my photos as portrait even though they are landscape in my folder and nobody wants to look at a sideways picture(although it might be an improvement LOL) and im too new at blogging to figure out how to change the way my photo is once i add it!

Have a great day!
